On crushing job interviews..

Sorry for the late response. This is education I never knew that interview questions are usually categorized into 3 questions.


Entering into an interview, i could get random questions that I didn't really understand what the interviewers were upto especially on behavioral part.


Now I fully comprehend.

On the second question, I can't really pinpoint exactly on my own personal case, but I know one my blood brother was scheduled for an interview....then he quoted  the figure for his salary expectations, though a bit higher they reached a compromise but after a hearty laugh, [he'd used 1 interview technique we talked about] ...he was hired the following day.

Truth is, you could be a top performer. You could have the X-years of experience your Dream-job company is looking for. 

You could the skill set for their ideal candidate.


You could have a track-record of high performance ad great results you've generated for your former and current boss.


But if you cannot commuicate that ACTUAL VALUE in certainty terms to hiring managers, landing your Dream-job could remain, well just a dream.


And I don't want that for you.




Truth is, most of us are amazing and great at what we do. But we just don't seem to go past the the application process. 


Every time we apply for that amazing job opportunity, we just don't get the interview call, yet other less competent and less candidate seem to get their way in.



By the way, it can be very frustrating seeing someone who's not as experienced as you are. As competent as you are,


As skilled and educated as you are...whiz passed you, and land Dream-job interviews and offers that you both applied, and you get rejected.


Like what one of my top performing students told me....



"...I applied for { job position } opening in our organisation, others were called but I wasn't, after probing the group HR told me they received my application but vacancies were few, ...really after all these years and a performer?....came to a conclusion maybe my star is not yet bright.!”



It can be very demoralizing!




Notice how the above is just generic response from the HR. Because here's the truth: vancacies will ALWAYS be few for any job position you’ll ever apply.

In fact, at times, you’ll be competing with over 100 candidates for a single job position.

There almost always will never be a case where the candidates are less than the job opportunities available--which is why the above HR’s response was not the REAL reason why they didn't pick her, despite her  being a top performer.


It's like when the HR tells you--after a job interview--that the reason they didn't give you the job offer was because you didn't have enough experience.

Oftentimes, that's not the reason. They're just using that as a clutch.

Why? Because if all they were looking for was experience, they'd not have called you in for the interview in the first place--as they'd seen your years of experience in your CV or cover letter.


So the above HRs response was not reall true, because hiring manager don't hire based on first-come first-served basis. They hire for ability to deliver solution.

So such responses are a polite way of saying: “...well we saw your CV but we were not convinced you stack up to the position.”

In other words, we didn't see WHY we should hire you for that position, over everyone else. We didn't see your value.

Articulating your value show them WHY they should consider you for the position, over everyone else--because you’re showing them you can offer solution for their challenges.


Once you master how to communicate your ACTUAL VALUE, you can make any career move, any time you want, and land not only Dream-job interviews, but amazing job offers other people would only think of.
